Jim Vincent’s Rio Products, based in Idaho Falls, is the result of decades of fly fishing experience across North America. In his pursuit of Keys tarpon, BC steelhead, and every species in between, Jim came to feel that more specialized fly lines were needed to adequately address the diversity of angling experiences that exist today. Through consistent innovation, Rio has more or less redefined what anglers can expect from their fly fines, with especially impressive advances coming in sink-tips, full-sinkers, shooting heads, and interchangeable systems. This is to say nothing of Rio’s full floaters; in 2009 the company will offer over twenty different specialized floating tapers. The advanced surface treatments Rio has developed allow for fly lines that shoot farther and float higher than previously thought possible. And the company’s excellence doesn’t stop at fly lines: Rio leaders and tippet materials were responsible for more fly rod IGFA records in 2007 than any other manufacturer.
