Leland on Scott Fly Rods:
Founded in 1973 by Harry Wilson, Scott quickly
became known for their fine fiberglass fly rods. However, very soon,
they began to experiment with graphite. Within a few years Scott
developed, their signature, tapered hollow internal ferrule. In the
late 1970's Scott's pioneering graphite rod, designed specifically for
salmon and steelhead, was introduced. Further, they initiated one of
the first true quality control rating systems for rod blanks. The
result was greater consistency in rods throughout the production
process.
Scott is a company whose history is filled with
firsts. They were the first rod maker to introduce a five-piece
fiberglass rod. They began to experiment with graphite as early as any
rod maker. Scott was the first rod company to successfully develop and
sell multi-piece graphite rods; and the list goes on and on. This
foresight has lead to a number of developments in production and design
that has made them one of today's industry leaders. The first Scott
series to feature four piece rods in 2-12 weight sizes is the S3
series, which soon lead to the S3S and now the S4 fly rods.
The
S3 represented the best tip flex rod Scott has ever made. Given the
overwhelming success of the S3 the team at Scott added a saltwater
series to the line. Having gathered input from dealers and pros alike,
this series will no doubt find itself battling some of the world's
ultimate game fish. The S3S rods load as quickly as any rod out there.
They are deadly accurate which is good for the angler and bad for the
bonefish. This series features the patented Scott ARC reinforcement;
this addition helps the angler land those trophy fish you see in all
the magazines. All of these developments and design have lead to the
design of "new" best tip flex rod the S4 fly rod.

Bamboo. Unless you're a panda, just the mention of it conjures up visions,

casting to trout in a clear cold river. If your noble ancestor was very lucky, in his hand was one of the exceptional rods that combined
performance and artistry.
Fast forward and meet the new Scott SC Series bamboo rods. Continue
to enjoy that vision of great granddad, but make no mistake, you're
holding a rod that would make him truly envious. We've partnered with Bernard Ramanauskas, award winning master cane builder and innovator, flyfishing fanatic and guide, to bring you some remarkable split cane rods.

expensive; now you can also revel in how well it performs.
Blanks are flamed a medium cognac color and are joined with light weight Super Swiss nickel silver ferrules. Spalted maple wood
inserts with engraved nickel silver cap and ring hardware are hand
finished and blued. Wraps are flawless in translucent silk with burgundy silk trim. Blued Snakebrand Guides with select real agate stripping guides in nickel silver frames round out the components.
Scott on The Truth
"70% stronger! 40% lighter!" All made possible through the magic of another random collection of letters and numbers.
Great fly rods aren't great because they feature the latest 'exclusive'
material that only exists in the minds of clever marketing departments.
Great fly rods are forged by commitment, experience, and passion. It
takes commitment to source the right materials and components even if
they're a lot more expensive. It takes commitment to craftsmanship and
top quality even if it takes much more time. Our rods are handcrafted
by people who love to fish as much as you do, and they're put together
with the know-how that comes from forty years of design and rod
building experience.
Of course materials are important, but that's just the beginning. The
full story is in the details, and how those details are brought
together, and it has a whole lot to do with the people who make your
rods.
And that's the truth.
