Leland on the G. Loomis NativeRun Single Spey GLX FR1327-4, 7weight Fly Rod
You better warn the angler on the opposite side of the river to
keep an eye out for your fly! The G Loomis NativeRun GLX Single Spey
FR1237-4 7wt fly rod has the power to reach distances never seen by a
traditional overhead casting fly rod.
This fly rod is designed to give
you the tight loops needed for distance and can be used as either a
traditional overhead fly rod or as a Spey rod. While this Single Spey 7
wt. may not have every Spey cast in its repertoire, you can easily bang
out an 80-footer Single Spey. When the conditions call for distance and
control, yet with a touch of finesse, the G Loomis NativeRun GLX Single
Spey 7 is the fly rod of choice. Try one of these beauties skating on
the the Deschutes!

Spot-on overhead casts and long distance Single Spey casts:
Welcome to the G Loomis NativeRun GLX Single Spey fly rod. The fine
tuning of GLX proprietary graphite provides you with a great casting
7
weight fly rod that can be cast either overhead with a single-hand
weight forward or shooting head style line, or Spey style with a 5/6
weight short belly Spey line. At 11’, this fly rod gives you mastery
over the fly line, both in the air and on the water. The 4-piece
configuration makes the 7 wt Single Spey very travel friendly.
The NativeRun is finished nicely with a custom designed reel seat and
an oversized grip of the finest Portuguese cork. The switch concept is
not new, but the G Loomis NativeRun GLX Single Spey just does it better

Leland on the G Loomis NativeRun Single Spey Fly Rod Series
Not sure two-hand Spey casting is for you? Well, now you can have your single and double-hander combined with the G Loomis Native Run GLX Single Spey Series. While technically not true two-handed Spey rods, these two 11' fly rods, a seven and an eight
weight, give you the extra length for casting large D-loops and
covering the water with great line control. The Single Spey Series are
equipped with fighting butt/handles that allow you to use them as spey
rods. With one of these, you may be able to fish that previously
unreachable seam on your favorite steelhead river.
The name 'single spey' is
derived from a Spey cast that's kind of like a fast moving roll cast,
(okay, there's a little more to it than that, but you understand!). The
Single Spey Series easily handles this cast, as well as a host of other
types of useful Spey casts and mends line like a demon. These fly rods
are designed to have the right amount of flex, making them easy to
load, while maintaining enough mid-section and tip strength to
efficiently cast overhead, particularly with shooting head type lines
like the RIO OutBound.
The GLX graphite ensures
that the rods will be lightweight and not overbearing; let’s face it,
an 11-foot fly rod can easily become a heavy beast of burden as early
as mid-day if it's not designed correctly. Not so with the GLX Native
Run Single Spey Series. These high line speed fly rods deliver tight
loops with minimal casting effort, making your job of catching fish
more enjoyable.
The Native Run Single Spey Rod is designed as a crossover rod between the
traditional single-hand overhead casting rod and a two-hand Spey rod. At 11 feet, these rods are part of that in-between, or “switch” class of fly rods that can be cast either way. The GLX proprietary graphite allows
the rod to be lightweight in the hand while maintaining the quickness
needed to shoot tight loops. The Native Run GLX Single Spey Series
rods are nicely appointed with only the finest of components; REC nickel titanium Recoil Guides, handcrafted Portuguese cork grips with special composite core end-caps, and a custom reel seat that is second to none.

G Loomis on NativeRun FR1327-4-NR-SS 7wt Single Spey Rod
“11 feet of pure single hand casting control and pleasure!
For anglers interested in a crossover rod between single and two-hand
spey rods, you can do it all with this rod. As conditions and back cast
space allows, you may overhead cast while wading deep, and get to
distances thought reserved for experts only. We suggest using a long
belly weight forward intended for single-hand rods for this sort of
casting. When backcasting is limited, or if you prefer, using a #5/6
short belly spey line will let you single hand spey cast with ease,
providing incredible line control and distance. The combination of a
small single haul and the spey casting motion will enable you to cover
water you may have thought only possible with 14’ rods and longer.”
G Loomis on NativeRun GLX Single Spey Rods
“While not true two-hand rods, these two NativeRun GLX rods give
you the option of reaching water you normally can’t with a traditional
single hander. Crafted with our proprietary GLX graphite, nickel
titanium RECOIL® guides, our new custom reel seats and the finest
Portuguese cork, these rods offer about a foot more of all the best
available in a steelhead fly rod.”
G Loomis on the NativeRun Fly Rod Series
“It’s the preparation, the pursuit, the prize. Whether you’re throwing skating
dries on the North Umpqua in August, fighting a coastal headwind on the
Smith, or attempting to reach down deep in the swift winter currents of
the Bogachiel, NativeRun steelhead and salmon fly rods cast the casts,
drift the drifts, and fight the fight as no other rods before. There
are fifteen beautiful new rods, from an easy casting #7 to a powerful
#9. All designed for you to generate greater line speed, more
aerodynamic loops and deftly accurate casts, with less effort than ever
before. Now, hitting those distant holding slots and easily mending a
full line will no longer be an occasional occurrence, but will happen
time after time. The new NativeRun rods; where the real prize may just
very well be the pursuit.”
G Loomis on Steelhead and Salmon
“There are few moments that match the take of a fly by an agile steelhead,
or the initial run of an immense salmon. It’s an event that can cause a
preoccupation in one’s everyday life. A fixation. An addiction. It’s
these moments that imprint your soul and never let go. It’s why
fishermen like Steve Rajeff, Steve Choate and the legendary Frank Moore
have devoted their lives to it. And, it’s the reason we’ve spent
relentless hours capturing their passion, along with many others, to
develop a completely new line of single-hand rods we’re proud to call
NativeRun. It’s also the reason fishermen like Gary Champion still
discuss the greased line technique used to fish Scotland’s River Spey
over a century after it was first developed. And the reason we traveled
to get his expertise, along with that of some great Scandinavian,
British and the local Northwest steelheaders to develop the most
comprehensive line of two-hand rods ever created.”
