Spey casting instruction, step two
The Second Step in Learning to Spey Fish, Held Onstream
This
half-day fly fishing class advances students' knowledge of
two-handed fly rods and Spey casting techniques and is held on the banks of the American River.
"Man, look at the size of that rod! I bet you can cast a mile with that thing!"
As you learned in Step 1,
it isn't necessarily how far you can cast,
but rather how efficiently you can cast. Spend the day learning the true effectiveness of Spey casting and fishing in
the ultimate classroom -- the water.
Learn a Switch cast, a snap-T and a double-Spey from either the
river-right or river-left direction as you feel the tension of moving
water and what that does to your casting.
In this intermediate Spey casting class, you will get to
cast a variety of two-handed rods,
some 11-foot switch rods and some 12 to 14-foot spey rods, in
line-weights 6 through 9, and decide which best fits your style. The
class size is
limited to no more than six casters, so that you get the
one-on-one attention needed to fully utilize these incredible tools. The class is also
open for customized instruction to improve your current Spey casting skills. Join up with the long rod gang and
see for yourself what all the chatter is about.
Rods, reels, and lines are included, but bring your own sack lunch, waders, and boots.
This fly fishing class is taught on the
