Simms on the G4 Pro Jacket
"The next generation in rain jackets – the G4 Pro is our most technical jacket featuring GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric."
Simms on Pro Shell Fabric
"GORE-TEX® PRO SHELL outerwear is waterproof, exceptionally lightweight and offers the ultimate in breathability, durability and extended comfort. Constructed with a woven backer, GORE-TEX® Pro Shell garments slide easily over other layers and offer exceptional tear strength and internal abrasion-resistance. Featured in our new G4 Pro Jacket.
The Gore Micro Grid Woven Backer technology was developed to improve comfort and performance. Garment breathability is enhanced and weight is decreased by 10% (against comparable wader styles with a knitted backer). The woven backer is thinner and lighter, improving the resistance to moisture transfer. Additional advantages are improvements in tear strength and internal abrasion compared to knits. The user will notice the garment or wader slides easily over other layers and resistance to movement is less noticeable."

Simms on Conservation
“IF YOU COULD PASS JUST ONE THING DOWN TO YOUR KIDS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?”
“Fishing is dependent on clean water, healthy ecosystems and just as important, people who care about conservation and resource preservation. It is the responsibility of everyone who enjoys angling to help protect and enhance our fresh and saltwater fisheries. After all, what greater inheritance would we leave future generations?
Supporting local, regional, and national conservation organizations is certainly an important role that angles can play in caring for our fishing resources. However, one area of vital concern, and one that all anglers can easily help do something about, is the spread of aquatic invasive species. These “hitchhikers”, including New Zealand mud snails, Didymo and whirling disease are having an enormous effect on rivers across the United States and are directly linked to reduced trout populations. Unfortunately, anglers are part of the problem, given that invasive species are spread by “hitchhiking” on waders, wading boots, drift boats, trailers and other gear.
YOU CAN HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES IN THREE EASY STEPS:
1) Thoroughly rinse all fishing gear -including waders, boots, boats, and boat trailers- in clean freshwater upon leaving a water source. Never travel from one river to another without clean gear.
2) Air-dry gear before moving to another body of water.
3) Tell other anglers about this problem and what they can do to help.”

Gore on WINDSTOPPER Soft Shell
"WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shells offer total windproofness and maximum breathability, combining the comfort of a soft mid-layer and the water resistance of a shell in one garment. WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shells keep you comfortable with the freedom of movement you need for enhanced performance in a wide range of activities and weather conditions.

Gore on WINDSTOPPER
Technical Highlight
Some microfiber "windproof" products can lose effectiveness after just one wash cycle. Our ultra-light WINDSTOPPER® membrane technology is built right into the fabric. Even after countless wash and dry cycles, it remains windproof.
Comfort Tip
Why opt for windproof clothing? In just two minutes, a wind speed of 20 mph will make a temperature of 41°F feel like 17°F.
Windproof
Why is windproof protection so important? Consider this: With a wind speed of 20 mph, a temperature of 41°F will feel like 17°F - in just two minutes. Instead of being put toward your performance, all your energy will soon be focused on trying to keep your body warm.
Slam the door on windchill and protect the warm but highly sensitive microclimate that surrounds your skin. WINDSTOPPER® fabrics are 100% windproof and keep you up to 2.5 times warmer than comparable materials without the WINDSTOPPER® membrane.
The Membrane
Every square inch of the WINDSTOPPER® membrane contains 1.4 billion micropores. This revolutionary structure is ultra-light, ultra-thin, and highly resistant to extreme temperatures. The microporous structure of the WINDSTOPPER® membrane ensures maximum breathability; cold wind is kept out, but moisture vapor can easily escape.
Integrated into the ePTFE portion of the membrane is a hydrophobic, or water-hating, substance to keep external moisture away from your skin. This thermoregulating effect keeps you comfortable longer, so you can be at your best.
Laminates
“Dress for the occasion.” Forget fashion rules, we’re talking about achieving optimum climate control based on your intended activity, level of intensity, and environment. That’s why we engineer different WINDSTOPPER® laminates for a wide range of activities and weather conditions.
To construct a WINDSTOPPER® laminate, the ePTFE (expanded polytetrafluorethylene) membrane is bonded to a wide range of high-performance fabrics. Depending on the application, a variety of outer fabrics and lining materials are used to create 2-, 3- and even 4-layer constructions.
Breathable
Ever felt cold and clammy even though your clothes were dry? You were the unlucky victim of wet out.
WINDSTOPPER® fabrics offer water- and snow-resistant capability with faster drying time. Different activities and weather conditions call for different levels of protection from rain or snow.
Terms like water repellence, water resistance and waterproofness are often used to describe the varying abilities of textiles to provide protection in wet weather. But each term has a distinct meaning.
1. Water-repellent fabrics shed water and snow as long as the chemical treatment remains intact. Over time, the treatment will wash or wear off and has to be renewed. Of course, restoring your WINDSTOPPER® garment’s DWR treatment is easy.
2. Only water-resistant WINDSTOPPER® fabrics with a continuous barrier (like the WINDSTOPPER® membrane) durably withstand water entry at pressures up to 0.1 bar. That is why they can offer reliable protection against light rain and snow, even after multiple washes.
3. GORE-TEX® garments, which are made of waterproof fabrics, zippers and sophisticated garment constructions offer total, all-around protection in very wet conditions. Only GORE-TEX® products are “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry.”
- Soft & Stretchy
Soft & stretchy fabrics give you greater freedom of movement and comfort for improved performance. All WINDSTOPPER® garments feature soft & stretchy materials.
- Abrasion Resistant
Only face fabrics made of abrasion-resistant materials can durably withstand friction from stones and rocks - or the straps of a backpack. Fabrics without this feature will pill and lose functionality over time. That’s why only the most abrasion-resistant face fabrics like polyester and polyamide – which are proven to offer reliable protection even under rough conditions – are used for WINDSTOPPER® garments."
