Galvan has been making quality reels since 1994, and in that time they have made quite a name for themselves. Over the years, Galvan has developed a cult-like following, and it's no wonder why. When it comes to a high quality reel at a price that's easy to swallow, Galvan is your reel. Galvan Fly Reels is located in Sonora California (right in the heart of great fishing country). The company is still run by it's founder Bonifacio Galvan and his wife Carmen. It is a true family business, currently all four Galvan children work with Mom and Dad. Moreover, their customer service is among the best in the business. All Galvan reels are machined, from 6061 bar stock aluminum, at their shop in Sonora. The reels feature a fully ventilated one-sided frame, and a two-sided ported spool, the combination of which results in an extremely durable yet lightweight reel. Besides the sturdy construction, Galvan reels are extremely durable and lightweight. They are also very easy to use. The spool release is literally as easy as pushing a button, and a large drag knob makes on the water adjustments a breeze.

The Spoke reels retain that smoothness of action and quiet click that Galvan has become known for. The incredibly smooth and powerful drag system further sets these reels apart. Composed of stainless steel, a Peek HPV bushing, and a drag surface made of a state-of-the-art, heat and wear resistant thermoplastic material unlike anything else on the reel market, our new drag system will give flawless performance in any conditions on the planet. There is no need to lubricate the Spoke Series reels, The bushing in the spools is self-lubricating. We recommend that you that you clean your reel every time after exposure to salt or alkali environments. To clean your reel, first loosen the drag all the way counterclockwise to the lowest setting and remove spool from frame. Soak both in fresh warm water. After soaking, rinse both spool & frame thoroughly making sure the drag area gets a little extra attention. Inspect the pawl area on the frame and the gear area on the spool for dirt, grit, or build up. If found rinse a little more aggressively. Let the spool and frame air dry before replacing the spool back onto the frame and storing.
