Leland Reel Company British Columbia Sea Run Fly Reel
As flies like the Jock Scott and Lady Caroline remind us, the rich
aesthetic of Spey fishing is just as alluring as the incredible
efficiency it provides. With the British Columbia Sea Run, we've placed
equal emphasis on appearance and performance, producing a reel that
would be right at home on the rivers of Vancouver Island in Roderick
Haig-Brown's day.With twin handles, circular porting, a full-cage reel frame, and a
double click-pawl drag system with rim-mounted adjustment, the Sea Run
pays homage to the design principles that guided reelmaking for much of
its history. But with fully machined aluminum, an advanced Teflon
anodize, and a geometry that optimizes line pick-up and ease of use, the
Sea Run leverages modern materials science and drafting platforms to
provide state-of-the-art performance as well as classic good looks.

Leland Reel Co. Vintage Brass Fly Reels
Each year, technology keeps advancing, such that today’s fly reels barely resemble those our grandfathers used while fly fishing. Don’t get us wrong, we love today’s comprehensive offering of sophisticated fly reels. But as you know, there are times when a highly-advanced fly reel doesn’t match the aesthetic of your classic rod or the “theme” of your day on the water. It’s a bit like installing chrome “mag” wheels on your meticulously restored roadster...it just doesn’t feel right. For these moments, Leland Reel Co. offers the Vintage collection of fly reels. These reels were designed to present an alternative to those anglers who want a functional reel that harks back to a simpler time, when plaid wool was a technical fiber, boots were made from leather, and men took the time to wind their watches and pack their pipes with care.
The term “simple” might sound threadbare to some, but at Leland Reel Co., it’s exactly what we wanted. Our Vintage reels are simple in appearance and design. Their graceful lines and subdued frame color blend well with their solid brass accents and rich Agatine handles. No fancy porting, complex drag systems or made-up technology...just the necessary and proven features a quality fly reel deserves.
Leland Reel Co. Vintage reels pay homage to the fly reels of the past, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t leverage today’s advanced materials and manufacturing processes to offer contemporary performance and reliably flawless finishing. Fully machined from solid, bar-stock aluminum and then Teflon anodized for a long life of use, these reels will surpass the performance and durability of your grandfather’s reel, all while retaining the look and sound that makes yesteryear’s reels so great.
Of course, each Leland Reel Co. Vintage reel comes in a padded leather reel pouch to protect and celebrate it. Maybe your grandfather never acquired a reel of this quality. Maybe your grandfather never even fly fished, but maybe one day you’ll be a grandfather and will pass one of our Vintage reels to a favorite family member...maybe.
