The Simms SunGloves saved my trip on north India's Saryu River. On a hot, sunny day we travelled to the stream in an open air jeep, and while winding our way along mountain roads for seven hours (and gripping the jeep's roll bar) my once-white knuckles turned a cherry red. Before I even got my feet wet, I had sustained a bad sunburn over the back of my right hand and lower forearm. It was severe enough (you know the kind) that I wouldn't have trusted sunscreen alone, even those new SPF 50+ lotions, to keep it from getting worse. Fortunately, I had brought Simms SunGloves to this sunny climate (they'd been deep in my dry bag during the drive), and I wore them whenever the sun was in the sky for the rest of the trip. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. Never during that time did I feel encumbered by wearing the SunGloves - whether casting, tying knots, or fumbling around in my bag. Several times I found myself arriving back to camp at night time, after fishing through dusk, still wearing them. Having not been re-burned, on day 9, the affected area began to peel. Next time I'm headed to a fishing destination, the Simms SunGloves are going toward the top of my bag, or, better yet, in my pocket.
