Leland on the Simms Rivershed Sweater
You're fly fishing season probably doesn't end with the summer. Trout gotta feed in the fall and winter, too, and then the steelhead move in. But colder weather can also make it more of a challenge doing your thing out out on the river. Staying warm and comfortable is what it's all about, and this high-tech
Simms Rivershed Sweater is the perfect choice for that purpose; wear it over a synthetic-t on a cool day, or layer it under a shell in rain, snow or when the air gets nippier. The high quality Polartec Thermal Pro Fleece is a quick drying layer that provides superior insulation, yet weighs in at only 16 ounces. Thus, the Rivershed's versatility not only extends to a variety of outdoor sports, it makes for a great looking outer casual piece with a pair of blue jeans. So don't let the cold slow your fishing down; think Simms, think Rivershed Sweater, think big steelies.

Leland on Simms Layering
You knew something had to give. One doesn’t spend more
than 15 years designing a lineup of some of most breathable waders and
outerwear, only to have the breathability compromised by substandard
layering. KC Walsh and his design team have poured their efforts
into the design and manufacturing of powerful wicking, quick drying
products. The first and foremost important factor in a good
layering garment is it’s wicking or breathability, not just the
movement of moisture off your body but the transport moisture from one
layer to the next. Without this wicking quality, moisture is going to
stay against you skin, or even worse, stay in the garment keeping you
wet
and cold. And who knows breathability better than Simms?
The next determining factor to a great layering
piece is the garment’s drying ability.
The quicker and easier a garment
dries, the more moisture the garment can move. Wicking only works if
the garment can dry fast. By
utilizing Polartec® Power Dry®, Polartec® Thermal Pro®, Polartec®
Classic and VisaEndurance® technologies, the designers at Simms provide
the best layering pieces to be worn with any breathable wader or
outerwear.
If a garment isn’t comfortable it probably will be
left behind, what good does that do you? As with all Simms
products, these layering pieces were field-tested until the fit and
feel was just right. Based on the way Simms fits waders, you just have
to know the fit and comfort of their layering is going to be second to
none.
Moisture is no friend of mine: That should be every
angler’s creed when it comes to keep warm. Simms products are cut from
materials that are rated tops in their class when it comes to wicking,
quick drying and durable. To give the comfort in movement
Simms layering garments are constructed with either 2 or 4 way stretch
materials. And to ensure proper fit Simms layering garments come in
sizes from Small to XX Large. Simms designs and manufactures some of
the most functional and comfortable fly fishing layering garments on
the market. And as with their patented Guide Series Waders these
layering garments are guide-proof. Remember your waders and outerwear
are only as good as what you wear under them.
- Cut from technical fabrics of Polartec® Power Dry®, Polartec® Thermal Pro®, Polartec® Classic or VisaEndurance®
- Quick drying, powerful wicking properties and odor resistant
- Either 2 or 4 way stretch material
- Sizes from Small to XX Large
Leland on Simms Fishing Products
Funny how childhood memories can influence one's
life! Just ask K.C. Walsh of Simms Fishing Products what the underlying
theme to his company and its location, he'll tell you it was his
grandfather taking him fly fishing in Bozeman, MT. Funny how what
started as a desire by K.C. to work in the fly fishing industry turned
into the design of the world's best fishing wader. Funny how that wader
design has turned into a company that now manufacturers what is
considered by many the best fishing waders and technical clothing.
Funny? Not really. Just hard work: Welcome to Simms Fishing Products!
At
Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters, we carry and use only the best fly
fishing gear. There is not enough time in our hurried world to worry
whether our chest waders or rain jackets are going to leak. We talk
with K.C. quite frequently and love to listen to his passion for
development of the most useful and high quality fly fishing apparel.
Our shop employees have toured the Simms factory, attended product
seminars and can tell you, K.C. is doing it right.

Because we take pride in what we make, and products have been designed
to go the distance. Our in-house design team has a combined 50 years of
experience in making durable technical outerwear. We work closely with
top material suppliers from around the globe, and continually test both
our new and old products in the lab and out in the field to make sure
we meet or exceed your expectations.
Nothing pleases us more
than to see our products, like those on the guides featured in out
catalog and on our website, go the distance.”
“The thrill of
discovering a pristine stream after a long hike into the backcountry,
the exhilarations of being on the flats on one of those incredibly
clear days, the rush of a crisp morning on a British Columbia river
when the steelies are running, these are the memories that keep us
tying through the dark winter months, and always find us plotting our
next angling season or weekend.
At Simms, we never forget that
the goal of every committed angler is to stay on the water as long and
has often as possible-regardless of the weather. That’s why we never
stop looking for new ways to keep you dry and comfortable. Whether
you’re waist deep in a drizzling snow on the Missouri or scouting the
Keys in the sweltering heat of a June afternoon.
We’re delighted to present the new zippered G4 Guide wader, the most
technical wader we’ve ever created. We’re also proud to introduce the
two most competitive waders under two hundred dollars, the first
GORE-TEX wader for kids and a full arsenal of new clothing.
So for all those who will be out there earlier, longer and later, we’ve got just one thing to say: Your Gear is Ready”
