Leland on the Rojales Fish Mobile

This highly impressionistic piece reminds me of a display I recently observed at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This artistic skeletal form suspends from a ceiling by cable. Pectoral fin and tail segments are moveable and interspersed with translucent shell panels. Strong jaws, large teeth and big exposed ribs remind of more ancient times when bigger creatures roamed the world. This Daniel Rojales mobile sculpture will command attention wherever you place it.

Leland on Daniel Rojales Sculptures

At a relatively young age, Jose Daniel Rojales is already an accomplished sculptor, with his works in private collections across the world, as well as a long list of exhibitions to his credit including a Director’s Choice Award at the Academy of Art University’s 2006 Spring Show.
A graduate in Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Daniel has been a professional artist since 2000. His varied abilities and interests extend to still life painting, ceramics, mold making, and advanced welding and forging. But it’s in this last category where Daniel has truly made his mark.  Coupling his training in anatomy, sculpting and metal fabrication with his love of fish, and fishing, Daniel has created massive metal renditions of his favorite gamefish; Bonefish, Tarpon, Dorado, Permit, Steelhead, Roosterfish and others. His work focuses not so much in capturing the exact likeness of each subject, but in the spontaneous use of composition and three-dimensional form in recreating it. After viewing the photos of Dan’s art on our Leland pages, we think you’ll agree that his work is both striking and impressive.

We’ve sold several of his pieces in the short time that we’ve had them up on the web, so if you’ve missed out on your favorite, please don’t hesitate to call us to commission one for yourself, or if you have any other questions. These stately works of art will last beyond several lifetimes, and will give you great pleasure every time you feast your eyes on the one you've chosen to compliment your living space.
