LOON
In the last couple decades, Loon has proved time and time again that fly fishing utility and environmental friendliness can go hand in hand. Dan Paradis, an avid fly fisherman and chemist, first set his sights on lead weight. He came up with Deep Soft Weight, a non-toxic, moldable, reusable alternative to harmful lead split shot that was an instant hit with anglers all over the country. In 1993, he applied the same logic to strike indicators, developing Biostrike, a reusable, biodegradable strike indicator putty. Much more versatile and subtle than any other strike indicator out there, Biostrike putty can be molded into tiny balls, which really shine in spring creeks and even on the huge spooky trout of New Zealand. It's also great for subsurface strike indication. The innovations kept coming, from water-based, non-irritating fly tying head cement and paints, to our favorite on-stream knot glue, U.V. Knot Sense. U.V. Knot Sense and U.V. Wader Repair cure instantly when exposed to the sun and are ideal for rigging bead egg rigs, adding some insurance to albright and nail knots, and quick, painless on-stream wader repairs.
