Kaenon Technical Notes
"SR-91 lens material is the foundation for the finest polarized lenses in the world. SR-91
is made of neither glass, nor polycarbonate, nor CR-39, but a radically
new polarized lens material. SR-91 combines the crisp optical acuity of
the finest glass lenses, in an ultra light weight,
impact-proof lens that exceeds the US Government safety standards of
ANSI Z.87.1. COLTS Laboratories, an independent testing facility, has
certified Kaenon Polarized SR-91 lenses with an optical acuity and
clarity rating of "40" - the highest possible score in the stringent ANSI Z.87.1 testing regimen.
Look through our Kaenon Polarized lenses
and test for yourself. With SR-91 lens material, we have created the
next generation of polarized lens technology.
LIGHT TRANSMISSION CONTROL/LEVEL
"We created the next generation of polarized technology. By combining our proprietary Glare 86® polarizing element with our specifically designed lens tints, we can control the amount of visible light that is transmitted to your eye. We call this Light Transmission Control or LTC. That name may be a bit obvious. The methods used to create the technology were anything but. The integral active component of this new concept is Light Transmission Level™ (LTL®). We created a proprietary LTL lens rating system that tells you the precise amount of visible light that each individual Kaenon Polarized lens transmits to your eye.
Example: our LTL 12™ lens is a dark lens that allows only 12% of visible light to enter your eye. Our LTL 28™ lens is lighter, and transmits 28% of visible light. Meaning that while mankind cannot yet control the weather, you can control the amount of sunlight that enters your eye.
By choosing a Kaenon Polarized lens with a particular LTL rating and one of our advanced purpose-built lens tints, you'll maximize optical performance in any light condition - like golfers using different clubs to play different shots. The result is superior optical acuity including sharper detail definition and contrast, accurate depth perception, true color recognition, and reduced eye fatigue. "
KAENON on LENS TINT
"Our specific LTL® lens rating system is designed to let consumers know the precise amount of visible light that each Kaenon Polarized lens transmits to their eyes. This is communicated through a series of special lens stickers (see below) that quickly communicates the LTL level and tint of each lens.
Grey
We developed this tint to offer the truest possible optical experience with no color alteration. It performs equally well on water and on land. Whether sailing, fishing, kayaking, or driving home after work, our Grey lenses eliminate glare wherever it exists and dramatically improves your visual acuity. Our Grey tint is available with the following Light Transmission Levels:
G-12™ (12%) Our darkest grey lens (blocks 88% of visible light). Performs best in bright, full sun conditions.
G-28™ (28%) Half as dark as LTL 12™(blocks 72% of visible light). Great multi-purpose lens performs well in all light conditions.
G-40™ (40%) Our lightest grey tint (blocks 60% of visible light). Performs best in low light and hazy conditions. Allows increased light transmission for greater detail recognition.
Copper
Our Copper tint is specifically developed to enhance color contrast, depth perception and detail recognition. Matched with your preferred Light Transmission Level, you get superior vision in the full range of light conditions (semi-cloudy, hazy or low light conditions). Copper also enhances your optical experience by amplifying details on surfaces such as water, grass / land terrain, and snow / ice. Unlike other rose-colored tints, our Copper tint was created by Kaenon Polarized to be soothing to the eyes and provide the truest color enhancement and contrast without lasting color alteration. Our Copper tint is available with the following Light Transmission Levels:
C-12™ (12%) Our darkest copper lens (blocks 88% of visible light). Performs best in bright, full sun conditions.
C-28™ (28%) Half as dark as LTL 12™(blocks 72% of visible light). Great multi-purpose lens performs well in all light conditions.
C-50™ (50%) Our lightest tint (blocks 50% of visible light). This lens is particularly recommended for golf and other hand/eye coordination sports. It allows maximum light transmission for greatest detail recognition. Performs well in low light and hazy conditions.
Yellow
Kaenon's proprietary Yellow tint combines superior color contrast enhancement and detail definition. We recommend this tint for semi-cloudy / changing light, hazy, and low light conditions. It is preferred by fishermen, sailors and snow enthusiasts for its ability to cut through atmospheric haze and fog and provides an unparalleled level of detail definition and color recognition on and through both fresh and saltwater environments. Our Yellow tint is available with the following Light Transmission Levels:
Y-35™ (35%) Great all-around lens (blocks 65% of visible light).Significantly enhances contrast, optimum performance in hazy, changing and low light conditions."
