Patagonia Rock Grip Aluminum Bar Boot
The Patagonia Rock Grip Aluminum Bar Boots are inspired
by the mountaineering crampon, developed by Yvon Chouinard and tested
around the world in many of the the toughest wading conditions. The
performance is derived from soft, malleable aluminum bars which are screwed to the bottom of the Patagonia Rock Grip Aluminum Bar Boot. The soft aluminum cuts through weeds
and moss on the slickest of river bottoms and grips rock like no other
traction device. In short, the Patagonia Rock Grip Aluminum Bar Boot provides the finest traction
in the most diverse and challenging wading conditions – bar none.
Patagonia Founder and innovator Yvon Couinard on the Patagonia Rock Grip Aluminum Bar Boot:
“In late summer 2010 in the same blacksmith shop where we revolutionized
the ice crampon for mountaineering, I assembled the first prototype of
the Patagonia River Crampon and cobbled together a pair of boots with aluminum
bars... The boot and
crampon have been heavily tested over the last year... Everyone involved
in the testing agreed that they would never go back to studs or felt
soles, as the aluminum bars offer a level of security that can not be
matched.”
